Becoming Carbon Positive

One of the main reasons for setting up Sopoco was to create a company with a new set of rules. Ones that relied less upon profit, although still important, but put equal emphasis on the environmental and social responsibilities business have today and if it is possible for a small business to take control of their impact in these areas.

We are definitely not perfect, yet, but have goals of turning our business into a carbon positive company and we are happy to share our journey and challenges that we face along the way.

What do we do at the moment:

Our office is powered by 100% renewable electricity that we produce and store in our very own solar and battery system.
We offset all of our other carbon produced through transport and infrastructure with the help of the CIC My Carbon Plan.
For a small fee we provide all of our customers with the chance to offset the carbon impact involved with the manufacture and shipping of their new solar systems with the help of the CIC My Carbon Plan.

What are our next milestones:

Convert our company vehicles over to electric.
Put pressure on our supply chain to do more with limiting their impact.

We are committed to keeping the impact of our company to a minimum. We use renewable electricity to power or office and will always look for the most sustainable option when making business related choices.

We are committed to working with people, schools and organisations to help educate people on how renewable energy can improve the world we live in.

Carbon Offset Your Install

Here at Sopoco we get really excited that each system we install, we are helping to reduce the dependecy on carbon based energy but we also want to give those that are environmentally aware the option to offset the carbon used in the mining, manufacture and shipping of the solar equipment.

We work with a community interest company called My Carbon Plan to offer or carbon offsetting programme that is based in the UK. With sites in the Lake District we provide certificates with the What Three Words location of the m2 area allocated to your offset.

All of our solar proposals offer our carbon offsetting programme option and you just have to let us know.
