Installation Support
Sometimes things don’t work quite as they’re supposed to, and solar panel systems are no different. Power cuts or surges, internet drop-outs and more can all cause your home solar system to stop operating correctly. As your solar installer, we’re always here to support you, but for any issues with the day-to-day functioning of your system, your manufacturer will be able to help so they should always be your first port of call.
However, there are a few checks you can run as the system owner before you contact the manufacturer. Very often, the issue can be resolved swiftly. Here’s a quick guide to the first checks you should do in the unlikely event of an issue…
First Checks
Complete the following checks to find the reason for your system issues:
1. Check the inverter. Are there any lights being displayed and what colour are they? Green usually means everything is OK, red means there is a fault.
2. If there are no lights showing, it’s likely there is no power getting to the inverter, so check the consumer unit fitted for the solar panel system. Are all the breakers showing as “on”? Sometimes these can trip, causing the system to turn off.
3. Log in to your portal or app and see what information is available there. If there’s no information displayed but the power to the inverter is on and there are green lights showing, then the most likely cause is an internet connection issue. Turn your home WiFi off for a few minutes and see if the connection is re-established when you turn it back on.
If you complete these checks and they do not resolve the issue, contact your manufacturer and ask them to log in to your system to help diagnose the problem.

Before contacting your system manufacturer, you will need your inverter serial number. This can be found on the side of the inverter. From this number the manufacturer will be able to find your system.

If the problem continues after you’ve taken the steps above and the manufacturer is unable to shed any light on the issue, please reach out to us. We will try and fix the system remotely first and if we can’t, we’ll contact you to organise a visit to your property.
