Job Summary:
The Solar Panel Roof Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar panel systems on residential and commercial rooftops. The technician ensures that installations are performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, contributing to the company’s commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation:Install solar panels, racking systems, and other components on residential and commercial rooftops following industry standards and project specifications.
- Site Assessment:Conduct site assessments to determine the suitability of roofs for solar installations.
- System Testing and Troubleshooting:Test and troubleshoot installed systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency, addressing any issues or malfunctions promptly.
- Maintenance and Repair:Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing solar panel systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Safety Compliance:Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment.
- Documentation:Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance, and repairs, including photos, technical specifications, and customer interactions.
- Customer Interaction:Communicate effectively with customers to explain the installation process, answer questions, and provide post-installation support.
- Team Collaboration:Work collaboratively with other team members, including electricians, engineers, and project managers, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Training and Development:Stay current with industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a solar panel installer, roofer, or similar role in the construction or renewable energy industry.
- Strong understanding of solar panel systems, including electrical and mechanical components.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and building codes.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Certifications in solar installation or related fields are preferred.
- GCSEs or equivalent; vocational training or technical certification is a plus.

Working Conditions:
- Work primarily takes place on rooftops and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Regular travel to different job sites is required.
